CONTRACT WITH AMERICA 2012 A proposal for Americans to take our government back from career politicians who have forgotten that they are public servants. Republicans took control of Congress with the 1994 Contract with America, but they strayed far from those principles since then. If they want to get it back, first they have to get it right. 1. TERM LIMITS FOR CONGRESS
2. REPEAL FEDERAL RESERVE ACT http://www.ronpaul.com/on-the-issues/audit-the-federal-reserve-hr-1207/
3. FAIR TAX (National Sales Tax) http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer Ideally, a national sale tax would be the only tax in the nation, with the Federal, state and local governments obtaining their budgets from this source.
4. REPEAL OMBAMACARE AND REPLACE IT WITH: 1. A law that allows consumers to buy health insurance across state lines. This will lower prices on health insurance. 2. Tort reform. (Texas has done a good job at this). 3. Change law that requires people without health insurance to go the most expensive place in healthcare (a hospital emergency room) for their initial care. Instead provide incentives for their treatment at the offices of primary care physicians. http://www.gop.gov/solutions/healthcare 5. ABOLISH REDUNDANT FEDERAL AGENCIES The Federal government should do ONLY what the states cannot. The closer to the original four cabinet departments of George Washington we can get the better off we will be. Regulating things like Education and Housing should be left to the states. Here’s a good step in the right direction: http://www.heritage.org/Research/GovernmentReform/BG1072.cfm The Sword of Fire novels contain these and similar issues. You’ll find samples in Asulon chapter 2, 3 & 4 and in Eretzel in chapter 6. Fiction can be a good way to introduce these concepts to those who would not usually read political texts. |
